Inside My Radio is a platform game, which was developed by Seaven Studio. The game is a rhythm-action game, so every action you do, expect pressing on the arrow button to move your character forwards or backwards, has to be on the beat.

I’m just going to come right out and say that this game is similar to ‘The Impossible Game’, so if you like that game, you’re going to love this one. The difference between the two is whilst The Impossible Game is controlled via one button, there are a variety of actions you can do during Inside My Radio, such as dash. This game is highly enjoyable; if you can keep a beat and you don’t get flustered easily, you’ll find this game fun and probably quite easy.

This game does have a story, unlike The Impossible Game. You start as a green LED inside a boombox and your goal is to find other characters. When you change character at the end of the levels, the music changes. There are three different genres of music used in the game: disco, dub and electro. All of them are nice to listen to, you won’t start to dislike a song if you get stuck in a segment and keep replaying it over. There are also interactive features, where you get to create your own rhythm in a level, allowing you to turn certain instruments down and some up. There is a nice interactive on the first level, where you get to open a door and famous musicians are behind them. If you leave one open and carry on, that musicians type of music will play throughout the rest of the level. For example, I picked Daft Punk, so the music was robotic and funky. Cool features like this, which allow you to become the composer, maximise your enjoyment.

The graphics leave a little to be desired, with colour clashes galore, but it doesn’t mar the experience the game provides. The visuals are still appealing, and as you traverse through the game, you quickly get used to the colour schemes. Regardless, the main appeal of this game is the music and the loud colours are expected with games of this genre.

Whilst the campaign has its challenges, you will probably finish it within the space of about 5 hours max. However, that doesn’t mean the game has finished, as you can also do time trial modes, which are the real challenge of this game. There is very little room for error in these modes, and if you’re an avid trophy hunter, you will get your moneys worth in these modes.

Once the whole game has been completed, Inside My Radio becomes one of those games that you put on to pass the time without putting much thought in to it. You’ll actively listen and enjoy, but you won’t feel any strong emotion to it, whether you fail a segment or pass it. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as the game is still replayable after you complete it, but it will be one of the first things you delete if you need to make way for a new game.

However, Inside My Radio has good reviews and high ratings for a reason. It is fun and you’ll be tapping your foot along the whole time. If not caught in a sale, you may find this game is a bit too expensive, given its length, but if you manage to catch it in a sale, such as the 50% off one Steam if currently holding until January 25th, I would definitely recommend purchasing this game.
