Euro Truck Simulator 2 – Beyond the Baltic Sea Review

Share Review

Euro Truck Simulator 2 is published and developed by SCS Software. Euro Truck Simulator 2 got released on October 18th, 2012 and received a really positive response from the community for being a relaxing and flexible experience. Euro Truck Simulator 2 is also packed with an immense amount of content, just like their other title known as American Truck Simulator. It might not be a title for everyone to enjoy, and like most games, it has some things that should be considered. Euro Truck Simulator 2 is identical to American Truck Simulator, which means that most of the mechanics and UI is pretty much the same! Euro Truck Simulator 2 is outstanding when it comes to adding more content to the game without changing what we love about it.

Just like in American Truck Simulator, there are some things you will have to do before starting your career as a trucker driving around in Europe. You will have to create a new profile and for that you will have to pick a portrait, logo and also a new name for your company and logo. Then you will have to choose your preferred driving method and it is flexible. First, you will be asked what type of controls you would like to use when you drive and then the complexity. You will be able to choose to if you would like to drive it manually or have it on automatic. Once you’ve made those decisions, the game will ask you whether you would like to go through a tutorial that will explain the very basics of the game. Once you’ve obtained the knowledge of driving a truck, you are ready for your first job!

Since you don’t own your own truck from the very beginning, you will have to pick a job and use the truck that the company will provide for you. Since it isn’t your own truck, fuel expenses will be covered by the company. Sounds great, right? You can pretty much drive around as much as you desire. The only thing that will stop you from doing so is the fact that some jobs actually have a time limit. It is important to get the job done since buying your own truck can be quite expensive at the beginning. The start of the game can be quite slow, but rather relaxing, nonetheless. You can also listen to the radio or your very own audiobook as you play! That is the main reason why Euro Truck Simulator 2 really doesn’t have a soundtrack when you drive your truck.

At the end of the day, Euro Truck Simulator 2 must be one of the most relaxing games out there. You can play it anytime of the day and still enjoy the experience it offers. When I first picked up Euro Truck Simulator 2, I was really curious to see what it really was about and I got really shocked. There are rarely any titles out there that are nearly as relaxing as Euro Truck Simulator 2!

Euro Truck Simulator 2 already provides a lot without the extra downloadable content. But when it comes to adding more downloadable content to Euro Truck Simulator 2, you might wonder whether it will be worth it. Some downloadable content really brings a lot to the table, and some might not bring as much! It is up to you to decide whether you will enjoy it!

The DLC known as “Beyond the Baltic Sea” adds a lot to the table. You will be able to visit countries such as; Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and some parts of Finland and Russia. Enjoy the Baltic characteristic architecture as well as visiting famous landmarks and drive through recognizable places. Travel to Russia and visit Saint Petersburg and Kaliningrad and enjoy the wonderful scenery. “Beyond the Baltic Sea” also contains over 30 local industries and company docks. What really made me enjoy this was definitely the nature. What really made me feel at home as I was driving was the rivers and the pine forests that I encountered throughout my journey in the Baltic region. There will also be 24 cities and small towns in which you will be able to visit! The only thing that makes this DLC less appealing is the fact that you will have to buy other DLCs in order to connect to the “Beyond the Baltic Sea” DLC. It isn’t game breaking by any means!

Other than that, I really think that the “Beyond the Baltic Sea” DLC really is worth your time. Having the possibilities to visit more countries is just amazing! Anything from the new signs to the new roads really makes it feel more refreshing. When you purchase the “Beyond the Baltic Sea” DLC, you will also unlock achievements that you will be able to get by doing activities connected to it. I just can’t wait to explore more and see what there is in store for me! If you are hungry for exploration and also really want to expand your horizons, I would highly suggest picking up this DLC!
