Zen Pinball 2 Iron & Steel Screen 2

Zen Pinball 2 has been around for a while now, there’s quite a few tables out there to play on now. The latest downloadable content is the Iron & Steel pack. This is one of the easier genres to promote, if you like pinball then you probably already have Zen Pinball 2 if you don’t like pinball then you will most likely stop reading this review before you reach the end of this paragraph.

Reviewing DLC of a game that has no story is essentially just breaking down what’s new with the levels or in this case tables that are on offer. In Zen Pinball 2: Iron & Steel there are two new tables i.e. Castle Storm & Wild West Rampage. Zen Pinball 2 has been an authentic experience irrespective of which table you’ve played on, the only real issue you may have noticed is that the pinball doesn’t always feel like it has replicated the true weight of a pinball when it falls back down the table.

The two tables are: Castle Storm; Based on the medieval fantasy genre, it’s a more open table compared to Wild West Rampage. Design wise it has more ramps and due to its open table the pinball accelerates a lot faster compared to the other playable tables. Plot wise if you can call it a plot, you effectively team up with Sir Gareth to protect the realm from Chief Ramhorn. Castle Storm includes a Viking setting, a fire-breathing dragon, an armoured troll and a donkey. Due to the fast paced nature of this table you’ll often forget what you’re building up to and trigger one of the various events. The background music is suitably fantasy based that picks up when you are taking part in one of the mini games.

Wild West Rampage; As the name suggests this table revolve(r)s around the Wild West setting. It stars Cindy a bounty hunter who arrives in the western town of Rackton Point wanting to take down Sheriff Evans. Wild West Rampage table contains a steam engine, swinging saloon doors, a six-shooter ball locker and various duels with the sheriffs posse. Wild West Rampage is a frantic table that rewards both clever play and random flipping. The trigger events include a bar room brawl and a bounty to hunt down. Wild West Rampage is a very detailed table and a lot of fun to play, musically the score really sets the moods and if you close your eyes it does feel a bit like you are John Wayne or Clint Eastwood which is quite the compliment to pay a pinball table.

Zen Pinball 2: Iron & Steel continues the trend of being a more than playable pack for the Zen series. The Wild West Rampage table is more entertaining than it’s Castle Storm counterpart, if you already have Zen Pinball 2 then your bound to add this pack to your catalogue, if you don’t then you’re not going to change your mind with this latest incarnation of pinball ballistics.
