Yumeutsutsu Re:Master Review

The latest visual novel release is Yumeutsutsu Re:Master, this time it’s from Kogado Studio’s who are well known for their Nurse Love visual novel games. In Yumeutsutsu Re:Master you play as Ai Otori, who joins a games company where her sister Kokoro works. Yumeutsutsu Re:Master is set in a place called Koenji, which is close to Tokyo. Eureka Soft is the name of the company Ai has gone to work for. Ai is a girl from the country, after falling out with her sister receives a mysterious email from the head of Eureka Soft. This email sets off a chain of events which make Ai move to Koenji. The problem is that Ai doesn’t know much about games making and thus begins her story of love, mystery and learning about the gaming industry.

Yumeutsutsu Re:Master is your standard visual novel, it’s longer than your average visual novel and contains a few different endings which helps with improving its longevity. There are three main endings in regard to particular characters. The characters you end up interacting with the most include Nana, Marie who’s an artist, Saki who’s a writer and your sister Kokoro, who at the beginning gives you the coldest of cold shoulders. As you progress in Yumeutsutsu Re:Master Ai will learn more about games making (you’re actually making a visual novel) and also the mysteries of her newly acquired work friends. There is also the mysterious story of your relationship with your sister and how that will pan out.

Like most visual novels, Yumeutsutsu Re:Master gives you the opportunity to guide and direct where the story goes. It’s also a love story so you will get to choose who that love is and even then there can be a good or bad ending to a particular relationship. I tend to find visual novels with fantastical or thriller plots more interesting than your standard love story visual novels, but Yumeutsutsu Re:Master does a very good job of keeping your interest. There are a fair few choices in Yumeutsutsu Re:Master t0 make, sometimes it can be several minutes between choices or several seconds depending on the direction you go. Some routes are longer and more interesting than others, generally you will play four chapters before you have to make a choice about which route i.e. love interest you want to pursue. Luckily, you can save at any point, so you can reload and pursue another avenue instead of having to replay Yumeutsutsu Re:Master from the beginning.

Something that you will find with quite a few visual novels is the usual extras like pictures and this is the same with Yumeutsutsu Re:Master. The voice acting and dialogue in Yumeutsutsu Re:Master is on point. There were no noticeable weird sayings or phrases that can sometimes happen with this kind of port. There is a lot of dialogue in Yumeutsutsu Re:Master, you can skip it, but then you won’t have a clue about what’s going on, thankfully you can also just skip the parts you’ve already seen. Graphically Yumeutsutsu Re:Master is gorgeous to look at with a lot of variety between the characters and locations, their expressions are suitably portrayed as well. Musically, there are some beautiful scores in Yumeutsutsu Re:Master.

Yumeutsutsu Re:Master is one of the better visual novels available at the moment. It has more than enough content to keep most fans happy whilst also with enough interactivity to keep you invested in how your choices in Yumeutsutsu Re:Master pan out. The way the characters interact with each other is particularly engrossing, so if you’re a fan of visual novels, then you will surely add Yumeutsutsu Re:Master to your list.
